Try These SEVEN Unusual Places To Put Your Advertising
Try These SEVEN Unusual Places To Put Your AdvertisingTry These SEVEN Unusual Places To Put Your AdvertisingThe terms traditional and non-traditional media crop up mora and more on creative briefs these days. In fact, most clients are moving away from the traditional, knowing that they must capture the imagination of consumers in a new way. Traditional media is usually comprised of Television Spots (Usually 15, 30 or 60-seconds)Radio SpotsCinema AdsPrint AdsBillboardsDirect MailInsertsMobileOnline Non-traditional media takes advertising to different places, including (but leid limited to) Coffee cupsShopping bagsDoor hangersEvent signageHandoutsSponsorshipsTaxi CabsElevatorsEscalators3D Billboards or stuntsPR stunts Those are not complete lists, but the big difference between the two is the expected vs. the unexpected. Billboards, TV ads, direct mail, they have all been reserved for advertising messages. And the customer knows that they will look there to get an advertising m essage this is why non-traditional media is so strong, because it catches consumers unawares. However, there are places beyond non-traditional that you should consider, because now those unexpected places to advertise are becoming inundated with messages from big brands far and wide. Think Laterally - Go Beyond Regular Guerrilla. Its fine to put a message on a coffee cup or shopping bag, if the context is correct and makes an impact. But to just advertise for the sake of it, you will not get noticed any more than you would in a newspaper or TV ad. You need to stand out, and make a point in a memorable and creative way. Indeed, it often takes much more creative thinking to execute a campaign that pushes the media boundaries, because you are always taking location/placement into consideration. The creative needs to support it to work. So here then are 4 places for advertising that you may not have considered. They will only work for certain types of products or services, but they are more likely to catch the attention of the consumer than the usual methods. 1 Fruit and vegetables in the grocery stores Almost every piece of fruit and veg you buy comes with a small sticker on it, usually containing a code for the checkout person to key in. But why have just one sticker? Another one, larger and more prominent, could be a great way to advertise your product. How about an ad for certain alcoholic drinks on the side of limes or lemons? Maybe stain remover ads on the beets, or ads for contact lenses on carrots. Be original. People always examine fruits and veg closely, they wont be expecting an ad. And they might just be swayed by your originality. 2 The Bottom of your Shoe There are a few ways you can pull this off. First, create custom soles for shoes and advertise with the imprints they make. Obviously this needs to be targeted to areas that accommodate footprints, such as places with snow, or wet sand. But if youre going to advertise ski-wear or beach products, hundreds of ads can be placed all around town just by having a few people wearing shoes. Another way to attack this is by placing sticky flyers around town. When people tread on them, the ad gets stuck to their shoe. Why is this good? Think about it this way. What if you were trying to illustrate how easy it was for someone to follow you home, or that in some countries that would have been a land mine? Maybe its self-promotion - for advertising that really stays with you, call X agency. Think outside of that cumbersome box. 3 Money Its not handled as much as it used to be, now that we have credit cards, debit cards, Paypal, and even phones that accept transactions, but money still goes through millions of hands every day. And its a great way to draw attention to your business. From coins to dollar bills, and bigger currency if you really want to make an impact, its a great way to put an offer directly in someones hands. On coins, something simple - maybe a message abo ut picking up cheap dates with a dating website. On paper money, maybe its turning bills into big savings - take the dollar bill into a local store, theyll give you $5 off something in there. Of course, there are rules about the defacement of money, so read up on them carefully. Its a gray area, and needs to be navigated with care. 4 The Human Body Were people watchers, but not in a creepy way (at least, most of us arent creepy). We cannot help but look at other peoples faces in crowds, on buses, waiting for trains, at work, in the grocery store, or anywhere else with other consumers. So, why not take advantage of that by using the human body as an advertising medium. There are already ways to facilitate this, with companies like Buy My Face helping broke students rent out their faces for cash. Is there a message you could put on someones face that would be perfect for your brand? A face cream perhaps? How about other parts of the body? Arms, legs, backs, if theyre exposed the y are a new way to communicate with potential consumers. 5 Inside Video Games This is not that same as the pop-up advertising and sponsored messages that appear in the apps you get from the Google Play and the App Store. No, in this instance, the actual landscapes and environments of the games people play (obsessively) every day can be used to bestattungs impressions. Their worlds have become so sophisticated, and in some instances ultra-realistic, that they emulate the same places we work, live, and vacation in. Cities have billboards. Bathroom stalls have ad placements. There are even people reading magazines with ads right on the cover. If you have a product that ties beautifully with a game (for example, auto insurance, and Grand Theft Auto) then you should seriously think about this avenue. It can bring in a whole new audience. 6 Baggage Claim and Airport Gates A captive audience is an audience that is much more likely to notice, and interact with, your advertising. Pe ople are waiting for long periods of time, sometimes five to six hours, with very little to do. They have their phones, but dont want to eat up the battery life. They have books and magazines. But their eyes are looking for things to entertain them. Step up and do that job. And do it in a way that is memorable and fun. What can you do with a baggage claim carousel? Can you pay to put something on it, that goes around and around for hours? Can you print something on it? At the gate, can you take advantage of floor clings, seat covers, and even trash receptacles? These are all opportunities that can make you stand out from the crowd. 7 The Homeless At first glance, that is a mercenary and heartless suggestion. But...take some time to think about it. The homeless are in desperate need of clothing, food, blankets, shoes, socks, water, and many other items. Some rely solely on donations from passers-by. Others go to shelters in times of need. However, if you have a natural tie to a ny of those necessities, why not do something good with your advertising dollars, and get a little back in return? Provide blankets and pillows that have your branding on them. Give out food packages, and essentials for both the summer and the winter. The recipients will be glad of the assistance, and you will benefit from some positive word of mouth? Sometimes, its better to do something good with the money rather than blowing it all on a billboard or 30 second TV spot.

3 Tough Job Interview Questions and How to Answer Them
3 Tough Job Interview Questions and How to Answer Them3 Tough Job Interview Questions and How to Answer ThemYoure in the hot seat in an bewerbungsgesprch for a job you want badly. The hiring manager and team are pulling out all the stops, asking tough job interview questions, to make sure that they separateout the wheat from the chaff with a large pool of competing candidates. Here are three tough job interviewquestionsthey might ask you, along with some interview advice on smart ways to craft your answersQ Whats wrong at your current job to make you want to leave it?A Striking an appropriate tone is critical to your response to this question. While you might genuinely be fed up with political situations in the office, an annoying boss, or difficult colleagues, you certainly dont want to hint at these situations to a prospective employer.Even if you feel that your current boss and/or company is limiting your growth potential and inhibiting your further career development, you need to express this in a positive way.For example, Ive really enjoyed my experience to date at my current company, and Ive achieved an incredible amount there, so Im very grateful for those opportunities. For my next step, Im ready to take it to a higher level than I feel I can go in my lage. I believe that I can contribute even more in the position that youre offering because its such a great match for my expertise and skill set.Q What would people who know you say is your biggest weakness?A The greatest weakness question is a dreaded one among interviewees, and its important to get it right because pointing out certain types of foibles to the hiring team can give them cause not to hire you. With this in mind, be strategic, and find a way to turn a negative into a positive.Say something like People who know me well would probably say that I get so intensely involved with my work projects that I dont know when to quit and put them down. Im very passionate about my work, so I need to be car eful to pace myself and take a breather once in a while.Q You have a gap (or gaps) in yourresume- why?A Whether you took time off for family, personal pursuits, travel, or were laid off and couldnt find work right away, its important to be ready to explain it. Its a no-brainer for recruiters and managers to zero in on these breaks in employment and ask about them, so prepare your approach in advance.Your goal is to show how you used the time off to improve your professional skills in some way that can benefit your next employer. You might phrase your answer along these lines It took longer than expected after a company-wide layoff to land my last job, but I really made the most of my time between positions. While interviewing, I took the opportunity to bone up on some industry skills by taking a class in ABC, which has really paid off in my current position. When you thoroughly prepare for the tougher questions that many interviewers ask, youll be that much closer to landing the job you want.

Job Seekers Market Job Searching with Low Unemployment Rates
Job Seekers Market Job Searching with Low Unemployment RatesJob Seekers Market Job Searching with Low Unemployment Rates1With the current national unemployment rate hovering around 3.7%, its definitely a job seekers market. This means that since there are more people employed (and therefore fewer fellow job seekers looking to get hired), now is the time to really pull out all the stops to find the job that you really want. But if you think that low unemployment rates mean that youll have a much easier time getting hired, think again. While there might be less competition, employers are getting more serious about hiring qualified candidates, according to the article, How a Low Unemployment Rate May Affect Your Job Search, from U.S. News World Report. Heres what you can expect when job searching with low unemployment rates.Youll probably have extra interviews.Forget about interviewing only with your potential boss- todays employers will most likely put their leading candidates through several rounds of interviews. This isnt even for senior-level jobs, where multiple interviews are par for the course. Additional rounds of job interviews are also common for entry-level and mid-level positions, too. So expect to likely meet with your potential boss, other managers, and the entire team before hearing if youve been hired for the position. With employers valuing the input from their own employees, theyll want to make sure that youre absolutely the right person for the job before hiring you.You should make sure company culture is a fit.Company culture isnt just a passing workplace trend, but a real way for you (as well as employers) to determine whether or not youd be a good fit at the company. But since unemployment rates are low, that means that employers are doing more to not only attract top-tier talent, but also retain the workers they already have.If youre researching a potential company to interview with (or if youre already in the interviewing process), keep com pany culture at the top of your mind. Make sure that the company offers the font of workplace flexibility that you need, a competitive salary and benefits (if thats already being discussed), and that you can see yourself working there for a longer period of time- and not just for a paycheck. After all, employers want to make investment in their workers not only as a way to strengthen their company, but to reduce the costs of having to start the hiring process all over again.Make getting a referral a priority. It always helps to have an in at a company youd like to work for, whether unemployment rates are up or down. Thats where having a referral comes in handy. Having someone who can attest to your work ethic and state that youd be a great asset to the team can put you leagues ahead of other top-level job candidates. If you dont have a contact at the company, then make sure to have some references at the ready. Employers are going to want to know more about you than whats written on your resume and titelbild letter- they are going to want to have an in-depth understanding of how well you got along with former coworkers and managers to make sure that youll mesh well with their team.Whether its a job seekers market or not, you can expect to find these scenarios no matter when youre applying for a job. But since it is a job seekers market, take advantage of its benefits, and start applying for those positions that you want- right nowBROWSE OPEN JOBS

Nice guys earn less than jerks starting at age 30
Nice guys earn less than jerks starting at age 30Nice guys earn less than jerks starting at age 30Nice guys may get the girl but they wont get the higher salary, according to a new article from the Harvard Business Review. The article and research are byMiriam Gensowski, an assistant professor of economics at the University of Copenhagen. In her study, she looks athow childhood personality and education can impact lifetime earnings and men and womens overall professional success. Her subjects were a group of 1,500 high-IQ individuals tracked from childhood to old age. It is depressing that she found that men who tend to be nicer, friendlier and more agreeable earn way less than, well, men who displayed more jerk-like tendencies. Interestingly, this jerk premium doesnt start to exist until men reach the age of 30 years old.The nice guy penaltyGensowski wrote in HBR, I found that in early years, earnings were no different for men with strong personality traits. At around age 30, a eu-ag rarpolitik emerged, as men who were more conscientious, extroverted, and less agreeable started earning more. These gains from conscientiousness and extroversion (between $10-20,000 annually) fully unfolded in the prime working years, between the ages of 40 and 60.Based on her findings she concluded thata so-called nice guy whois in the bottom 20% when it comes to extroversion will earn around$600,000 less over their lifetime than a man who has all the same characteristics but is in the top 20% for extroversion and conscientiousness. Her research also found that agreeable people in general, but especially men, are less likely tohold leadership positions. And as you may have guessed those conscientiousness and extroverted guys are more likely tobecome leaders.Education is a factorEducation also plays a large role in this study as there was a significant subgroup of men who benefit from extraversion and conscientiousness twice as much as others if they have a graduate degree. She wrote, When comparing two men with a bachelors degree, the introvert (bottom 20% of extraversion) will earn about $290,000 less than his peer with average extraversion. This earnings difference increases to about $760,000 when we compare an introvert to someone at the average extraversion when both hold a Masters or doctorate. So in other words, if you are a guy, even a nice one, you probably should start piping up in meetings more and disagreeing with your coworkers even on small things if you are nearing 30.

Enhance Culture with the Interviewing Process - Spark Hire
Enhance Culture with the Interviewing Process - Spark HireWhile some managers see the hiring process as a necessary evil in reservierung to keep the best talent in their office, in reality how you hire speaks volumes about your organization. Smart managers review their hiring process regularly in order to ensure that its streamlined and up-to-date. Heres how your hiring process directly impacts a candidates perception of your business. It shows where your values lie.The hiring process is a option for you to shine the spotlight on your companys core values. If you really want to find innovative thinkers, let candidates talk about how they would improve the business using their own ideas. If youre all about working in a collaborative environment, get candidates interacting with their would-be colleagues. Some hiring managers get trapped in following the same formula theyve always used for interviews, not realizing that this is their chance to put the focus on what really matters to tha t business today. It can tell a candidate everything they need to know about your organization. If your interview is disorganized or you take months to get back to a candidate, it reflects poorly on your business. This can cause a talented individual to lose interest. While candidates need to impress you, ultimately youre looking to impress them as well. To do this, make sure that your team is on the same page about the interview process. What types of questions should you be asking? How many different people will get to interview the candidate? What is the desired time frame for making a decision? It reflects how your company communicates. If a candidate is asking a question that you dont know the answer to, do you get the information from another department, then follow through with a response for them? If youre saying the job pays $80,000 and someone else whos interviewing the individual says it pays $30,000, it illustrates that there are some communication issues within your company . Make sure everyone is clear on the information that will be presented to candidates before the interviewing process begins.Because the hiring process is so reflective of your business as a whole, its important that you analyze it regularly in order to ensure that its as effective as possible. Calling candidates back for four rounds of interviews or taking months to make a decision can send a bad message about your company, causing you to miss out on top talent. How does your company ensure its interviewing process stands out for the better?

Our sales teams are innovators. We constantly seek new ways to provide our products and solutions to customers in a manner that improves their lives. If that sounds like a team of which youd like to be a part, heres everything you need to know about how to best prepare yourself to interview for a sales role at Philips- and hopefully, snag a job there.Innovation is at the core of everything we do, says Madaffri. To discover whether an applicant is a team player , Madaffri will often ask for past examples of working as a team- so come to an interview with some team-work stories you can tell.I need to see confidence in candidates, says Madaffri. They need to believe in themselves and their abilities. But more than that, you can show confidence in an interview by doing your homework on Philips and our products, he says. 10 Career Change Resume Tips (with examples)
10 Career Change Resume Tips (with examples)10 Career Change Resume Tips (with examples)Career change happens to most of us at some point in our lives. In fact, the single-career trajectory is becoming less and less common. Some of the greatest anxieties surrounding career change centers around the process how do I get an interview, what does my resume need to look like, what skills do I need?Below, weve analysed the career change of our real users (Sam, Marcellus, Eric, and Steffany) to provide top tips on how to craft your career change resume.Tips for Your Career Change Resume1. Show yourself It can be difficult for recruiters to generalise your previous experience in unrelated fields to the position youre looking for. While highlighting transferable skills and determination is important, recruiters need to see who you are to determine if you fit the company and industry culture. Sam used herbeibei resume to highlight books that she loves, her hobbies, and even some information o n her cat. This piqued recruiters interest at Spotify and sparked conversations which ultimately demonstrated her culture fit and helped her stand out. 2. Be boldChanging industries and making a career change takes courage (even for people in the military). This courage needs to be reflected in your resume to show recruiters that you have what it takes to navigate the difficulties of the new sector you wish to enter. Marcellus switched industries back in the 90s from working in the military to network engineering (a famously difficult career change). Since then, he has kept boldness in the veins of his resume. Recruiters at Verizon Digitial Media Services saw this as he mentioned obtaining a patent in his resume something that takes a lot of dedication and motivation. 3. Face the change head onOften, we want to conceal the fact that this will be our first exposure to a certain field-of-work. This can lead to overcompensating at every turn and forcing experience to fit the vacancy w here it really doesnt. Facing the reality of your career change head-on and explaining why youre determined to make it a success is the way to go. Steffany did this by acknowledging her career change in the objective of her resume. This isnt a weakness for her, its something she thrives on. Its evident that her mission is to make her career change a success which got her a spot at IE Business School. 4. Your resume is your story Your resume is your conversation starter with the recruiter. With this in mind, its important that the recruiter gets an understanding of exactly what you have been doing and what you want to be doing in this career change. Giving mention to the reasons youre making the move will answer questions you know the recruiter will have in their mind already. Eric did this by including his Approach in his resume as he transitioned from musical performance to working at SideWagon5. Research into your new careerTheres a certain expertise that comes along with being in a field for some time. With moving into that field, that expertise is something youre lacking. Researching into your new career is best for understanding the language used, expectations of employees, trends in the field and more. Sam made new connections through Meetups (she used the tool Meetup to easily check the best events near her), communities like Lesbians Who Tech, and events at tech firms. This helped her tailor her resume to fit into the tech world after working in banking for so long. 6. Develop an eye-catching career change resume Recruiters go through hundreds of resumes in a day. Resumes that weave aesthetics in with high quality content are more likely to catch their attention. This was something Sam had to think about when moving into Tech as her banking experience may have come across as boring and drawn-out. Using carefully selected graphics on her resume helped her stand out and entice the recruiter at Spotify. 7. Utilize volunteering experience Volunteering expe rience can be used to show the recruiter youre capable of working outside of your traditional field. It also demonstrates your dedication to things you care about. Including volunteering projects not only provides the recruiter a reference of the versatility but also proof that things youve chosen to pursue (i.e., a career change) are things youre successful at. Steffany went one step further with this and included her volunteering as her Global Impact. 8. Diversify your achievements Much like the variability you can show in your volunteering work, its also important to show diversity in your achievements. Include a variety of achievements that highlight different aspects of your work, experience and life. This way, the recruiter will have more evidence to believe youre not stuck in the pigeonhole of your previous sector. Eric included very different achievements in his Most Proud Of section. Here, he highlighted his professional accomplishments of being the Youngest Influencer empl oyed by Mercedez-Benz, but also his personal achievement of backpacking. 9. Have your resume reviewed You may have lots of experience writing a resume for working Retail, but you dont have experience writing a resume for working in Tech. Recognising this venture as new territory and reaching out to those in the field to review your resume is one of the brde few steps you should take. This way, you can gain insight into how your resume is perceived by others and they can notice any mistakes you might have missed. To do this, you can utilise the built-in referral link in s platform. 10. Get your resume to the right people Theres no use in creating the perfect career change resume only for it to sit on your shelf. Ensuring your resume gets to the right people is the final step you should take on your career change journey. To get your resume to the right people you can Attend careers fairs Apply directly to the company online Ask to come into the firm to learn more about their business and introduce yourselfAttend Meetups Writing your career change resume Theres a few things you want to accomplish with your career change resume. Like any other job, you need to answer the job description and check as many boxes before you get the interview. Applying the above tips will have you on the right track to finding you next gig no matter how different or alike it is to your current role.
